At this point last year people were readying themselves to get on the ice and do a little fishing. This year seems to be a little different story. We all know it will probably change in a hurry, but I can handle this nice weather - for now. In fact, I just picked up my new Larson FX fishing boat the other day and have already had it out on the water for its first fishing trip. I would rather not talk about that trip, but what can a person expect when he hasn't been out there in a couple of weeks. It still felt good to be out despite the lack of cooperative walleyes. I guess that just means it is time to spend some more time in the tree; in fact I am going to be meeting up with the president of Larson Boat Group (Rob Parmentier) in a few hours and we are going to see if the deer are on their feet tonight. Rob will be perched with his rifle and I am still toting the bow and arrows, we will see what kind of story we can come up with today. I hope all of you hunters have had a successful season up to this point, and yes success can be had without hanging one on the pole. I have been sent many photos in the last two weeks of both dead and alive whitetails, very impressive animals from Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota. Congratulations to both Dustin Erickson and Nick Miltimore (two of our fishing guides) on bagging some nice bucks! Dustin put a nice one down on the ground with his bow and arrow and Nick has put down a couple of big ones with his firearm. His hunting party ended up hiding his gun from him. Maybe I will be next, and maybe it will happen today, maybe.
Good luck/skill to all of you during the second week of deer camp.
