One-hundred-thirty Brainerd students in grades 8-12 raised $15,000 in the 27th annual Sertoma Sunrise Warrior Liftathon in March in the Brainerd High School weight room.
Funds were raised for charitable organizations and those in need in the Brainerd area. Participants were divided into 11 fundraising teams with 11-13 lifters per team.
The Sertoma Sunrise Club is sponsoring a recognition breakfast April 27 in the BHS cafeteria for the top three fundraising teams and the top male and female Liftathon Most Pounds Per Ounce winners.
Juniors Anthony Baylor and McCale Peterson tied as boys MPPO winners and junior Ellen Hickman was the girls MPPO winner for the second consecutive year.
Tanner Clink, Brandon Justin, Sam Nesheim, Julia Wallace and Kyle Hensel will also be recognized for participating in the Liftathon in each of the five years they were eligible for the competition.
