It is true, Minnesotans are known for being tough against the elements.
But this week's forecast will test any outdoorsman. And Saturday, Jan. 26, just happens to be the biggest ice fishing tournament known to man. Now in some states that might cause people to stay home or even cancel, but not in Brainerd. There will probably be some anglers that will back out but there will be plenty of hearty souls out chiseling open their holes shortly after sunrise.
And being Minnesota there is always a possibility of some guy wearing shorts, but I highly suggest not doing that. This year, the tradition continues for us. My wife Tammy and nephew Hunter will join forces with our New York friends in hopes of getting a fish big enough to get on the board. And just in case that doesn't happen, you just have to remember that you are raising money for Camp Confidence and so many other great nonprofit groups that help people all year long. And a few hours braving the cold won't hurt you, but it will help others. Good luck out there and I hope one of you get to take that new truck home.
