So far this summer has been a blur. I've been trying to squeeze in as much fishing "and work" as I can.

The big trip to Tazin Lake Lodge in Saskatchewan starts today. But no matter how much you plan things come up that quickly take priority. I haven't got to help out much for the Brainerd Warrior fishing team as much as I would like, so when I got the call from an old hometown friend that his son needed a captain it didn't take long to make a decision. Two hours later Ares Soukup and I were headed to Lake Minnetonka. The odds were stacked against us right away as neither of us had ever fished the lake, or any lake with bad milfoil for that matter.

Teams consisted of two fisherman, and Ares would have to put twice the fish in the boat as he would be fishing alone. But we tried many techniques and spots-and boy are there a lot of spots on that lake. He fished hard all day and ended up somewhere in the middle of he pack, pretty good all things considered.

But that's not where this story ends. First thing in the morning we saw a huge musky, and roughly 33 years ago while I was fishing with Ares' grandfather and uncle I saw my first musky. I just thought that was kind of cool how things come full circle, and out of nowhere.
