This year's event in Brainerd with 129 anglers was the biggest ever, not only for the Brainerd area but in the country and even the world. You can tell when something is a great cause, people from all over Minnesota clear their schedules to make sure they can attend the event.

I know it is a very special day to us and many of our friends. We get to fish all the time so imagine how much it means to someone who maybe gets to get into a boat only once a year. I know I say it all the time, but it was a perfect day! The rain held off and the temps didn't skyrocket and the fish even decided to bite.

Some great memories from this year for me were: as we were cleaning fish seeing the anglers watching and patiently waiting, you could just tell they really wanted to see those fillets in a frying pan. Also the "fish tales" are always worth listening to as it doesn't take long for the stories of the day to grow.

This year I was pulled out of my comfort zone and was asked to be the guest speaker, something I do not have much experience in. But I figure if Bob Slaybaugh can get on the roof every year for the group photo without falling off I can talk in front of a few hundred people.
