Now it's back to reality, which isn't so bad when you live in Brainerd and get to fish all the time. For being midsummer already the bite has been pretty good. The walleyes are actually cooperating and, with bass and pike thrown in the mix, you can have some great days on the water.

If you are looking for an excuse to spend a great day on the water I have the perfect thing for you. Aug. 6 at Lum Park we will be having the third annual superhero fishing rod tournament. What is a superhero rod tournament? Well, anglers from kids to pro fishermen try their luck fishing for bass, walleye or pike using those plastic Barbie or Spider-Man rods.

What is the point? Actually there are two. You can't help but laugh when you are trying your hardest to land a fish on kids' rods-I challenge you not to have a great time. Secondly this year we are raising money for Camp Confidence, so you not only get to fish but you are helping campers while you do it.

The tournament is from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., with a picnic to follow at the pavilion. For more info feel free to call me or go to www.campconfidence.com/superhero . Hope to see you there.
