February is here and, for the most part, fishing is still pretty good for about any species you want to chase. From panfish to burbot, you can target everything right now.

Lake of the Woods and Mille Lacs Lake are still your best bet for walleyes right now, off the mud flats in 28-31 feet has been the key for us, using a buckshot spoon tipped with a minnow head.

As far as panfish, shallow has been pretty good using small tungsten and plastic tail and the low light times have been good for bluegills and crappies as well.

Gull Lake has been starting to produce some big eelpout also, and the great thing about that is you don’t have to rush out after work, the bite usually gets good as the night goes on. Travel on a lot of lakes has improved but still be careful, there are still plenty of slushy and/or thin ice spots.

Good luck out there and remember -- walleye and pike season is coming to an end soon so get out there.
