It's that time of year again when 150 plus anglers take to Gull Lake for the Camp Confidence Fishing Classic. And that means it's also Father's Day and if you need a few ideas on what to get the outdoorsman in your family here are a few ideas - they are things that I have used in the past year and work very well. First is an inflatable life jacket. There are many models from manual to automatic and even one you can wear on your belt. With their design you don't even know you are wearing one. They even come in camouflage so you can wear them duck hunting.
Next is something that I absolutely fell in love with this winter. It's called a jet-boil. Basically it is a small butane burner with a small pot that is all self contained in itself, you can boil water for cooking or even coffee in under two minutes. I can say there is nothing better than eating a hot meal in the boat or deer stand, and it sure beats cold sandwiches.
And last but not least is a combo that saves a lot of time. It is an electric fillet knife and plastic cutting board. Believe me they are fast. It took a ton of convincing to get me to try one and now I have two, one that plugs in at home and a 12-volt that plugs into the ATV or boat, and the cutting boards are really easy to clean and way more sanitary than an old piece of plywood.
I hope this gave you a few ideas for the great father in your life, and hopefully you take him fishing this weekend also.
