Last weekend kicked off the first of the Student Angler Tournament Trail fishing tournaments and I captained the boat once again for Kyle and Tyler Bahr. We were trying-and hoping-to get a replay of last year and get the top spot again but it wasn't in the cards for us this year.

There were plenty of fish put in the boat but we just couldn't get that last couple pounds to upgrade into the 20 pound mark. In the end the best we could do was 20th spot. Not what we were hoping at all but all that means is they will be trying harder at the next tournament.

It is really great to see so many youth anglers taking up the sport. Years down the road there are going to be some serious competitors at the bigger bass tournaments, that's for sure.

Now it's time to get geared up for Trolling for the Troops, and next week the Camp Confidence Fishing Classic. Two events I really look forward to, and two events that are a little about fishing and more about giving back and seeing old friends.

See you on the water.
