Last Sunday the Brainerd Warrior fishing team had a full field on Crosslake. As I drove to the access through downpours, hail and lightning I had to wonder what the day would bring.
I had my fishermen in the boat and we were waiting for take off after a brief meeting at Moonlight Bay. It would be a learning day for our boat since none had fished the lake before.
We started fishing docks and worked our way to some deeper cabbage weeds. It took a little bit to get the first keeper in the boat but once that happened, time seemed to fly and they both had their limit and even made a few upgrades.
I think in all, there were close to 50 boats all with a captain and two anglers. Some had better luck than others, but everyone learned something, and that's what really matters.
I look forward to seeing Collin French and Levi Raddatz on the water this summer, they were great kids to have in the boat, and watching them fish all day, you could really see their determination to get that next bite. And that is what it takes, never lose that determination.
