A benefit and scholarship fundraiser for Wayne "Wheaties" Wallin is planned Friday, Feb. 20, at Pequot Lakes High School.

A spaghetti dinner/silent auction will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with the Patriots' boys basketball home game against Staples-Motley to follow at 7:15 p.m.

The event is being organized to help defray recent medical expenses incurred by Wallin, a Pequot Lakes graduate and veteran sports writer for the Echo Journal newspaper.

Establishing funding for a college scholarship in Wallin's name is also part of the benefit. Suggested cost for the spaghetti dinner is $5 per person. Proceeds from the basketball game and concessions will also be donated tor the benefit.
