ST. CLOUD - Mackenzie Holst poured in 29 points for the Central Lakes College Raiders in a season-opening 75-57 loss to the St. Cloud Technical Cyclones Wednesday night.
Holst sank 9 of 10 foul shots and finished 8 of 14 from the field for CLC, which played much of the game with just four players. The Raiders' Tiffany Smith suffered an injury in the first half and was unable to return.
"We played almost three-quarters of the game with four people," CLC coach Cassie Carey said. "When Tiffany went down, we were down by five. It was a true test of character. I'm really proud of the girls for pushing through and never letting down or losing their cool."
Angela Mosbeck added 10 points and 14 rebounds, Kiana Edwards contributed four assists, four points and five boards and Alyshia Angeleno grabbed 12 rebounds for CLC, which trailed 39-29 at the half.
