With only five players scoring for the Central Lakes College Raiders, a close 77-73 loss to the Fergus Falls Spartans in the CLC Invitational Saturday left the team feeling good, despite it being their fourth consecutive loss.

“The first game we played against Fergus Falls we lost by 37 points, so losing by just four means we’re definitely heading in the right direction,” Raiders head coach Dennis Eastman said.

Lindsay Monson led CLC scoring with 24 points, followed by Taalyr Egeness with 17 for the Raiders, who shot 46 percent from the field compared to Fergus Falls’ 37 percent but lost 20 points to turnovers.

Sierra Benning added 13 points and 10 assists and Jalynn Lamb marked down 12 points for CLC.

“We wanted to win so badly that we lost focus on how good we played,” said Eastman. “We played really well and I’m really proud of the ladies. We’ll be ready when it starts all over again in January.”
