Women’s College Basketball: Free throws doom Raiders in loss

Lillee Hardee hit for 22 points and Paige Wallevand added 12, but Central Lakes could not overcome a 26-13 margin in free throws as they fell to Northern Division leader Northland 79-63 Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Brainerd.

The Pioneers converted on 20-of-26 free throws while the Raiders shot just 13 and converted on eight. Wallevand and Kali Mammenga each fouled out of the game.

Only two bench players were available for Raiders head coach Brian Voigt with Katie Johnson being out with an injury.

Wallevand secured 10 rebounds and Haley Youngbauer added 11 points and distributed six assists.

The Pioneers swept the season series from the Raiders winning 76-56 on Jan 8. Central Lakes dropped to 4-4 in division play with the loss while the Pioneers moved to 7-1.
