THIEF RIVER FALLS-The Central Lakes College Raiders went up against the No. 2-ranked team in the nation in the Northland Pioneers Saturday and were dealt a 64-46 defeat.
Tanisha Beetso scored 16 points to lead the Raiders but CLC coach Randy Swanhorst was pleased with his team's effort against a Northland squad that won for the ninth-straight time and improved to 20-3.
"We had great effort today," he said. "I was really happy how the kids bounced back after a tough loss where we lost the lead Friday night. We really didn't get any breaks out there (Saturday), but hung in there through some foul trouble."
The Raiders are in a battle with Hibbing for fourth place in the division. Hibbing travels to CLC next Saturday in a game that most likely will determine the division's fourth and final playoff spot.
