VIRGINIA — Lillee Hardee and Paige Wallevand combined to score 44 points, but Central Lakes College couldn’t overcome a 15-point halftime deficit as Mesabi defeated the Raiders 77-69 in a Northern Division game Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Hardee hit for 24 points while Wallevand scored 20 points and secured 15 rebounds. Maggie Fellerman grabbed 14 rebounds and finished with 11 points.
Central Lakes shot 38% from the field and dropped their fourth straight game. Mesabi evened the season series after the Raiders won 54-41 Jan. 11.
The Mesabi Lady Norse jumped out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter and that grew to 45-30 at the half. The Raiders outscored Mesabi in both quarters in the second half, but could only cut the deficit down to eight.
With the win, Mesabi moved into fourth place in the Northern Division standings with the Raiders moving into fifth place.
