TEMPE, Ariz. - Brainerd High School graduate Nikki Anderson raised her record to 3-0 Friday by pitching the University of Minnesota to an 8-3 win over Boise State at the Diamond Devil Invitational.
Anderson matched her 2014 win total with the victory. She spaced eight hits and allowed three earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
In Minnesota's 13-1 start, Anderson has appeared in five games, four starts, with two complete games. In 23 innings, she has allowed 25 hits and 14 runs (13 earned) with four walks and 19 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .269 against her.
The Gophers play five games in the Citrus Classic in Orlando this weekend. On Friday, Minnesota plays Mississippi State at 12:15 p.m. and James Madison at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Gophers face Missouri at 12:15 p.m. and Omaha at 2:30 p.m. They close out the tournament against Fordham at 9 a.m. Sunday.
