A forfeit at 220 pounds cost the Brainerd Warriors as it enabled the Aitkin Gobblers to escape with a 34-31 win Tuesday night.
Aitkin led 28-25 after Kyle Lynn's major decision at 195. Aitkin's Alan Bast won by forfeit at 220 to give the Gobblers an insurmountable 34-25 edge. The Warriors' Dylan Crandall then registered a pin at 285 in the final match.
Cole Kubesh pinned Caine Owens in 1:03 for the Warriors in the non-conference meet.
The Warriors' Dylan Crandall pinned Michael Roth in 1:15 and Braden Kramer of Brainerd pinned Luke Pawlowski in 1:18.
The Gobblers' Jack Braton won his 60th match with a 7-2 decision against Brainerd's Drew Robinson.
For the Gobblers, Noah Landrus pinned Morgan Gibson in 1:54. Against Hibbing on Dec. 4, Landrus picked up his 60th career win.
Jerod Novak and Chris Jackson also scored pins for Aitkin.
