MOUND-Kyle Patnode and Cade Barrett won their weight classes for the Brainerd Warriors who placed third in the 10-team Leopold-Haglund Invitational Friday, Feb. 8.
The Warriors failed to field wrestlers in three weight classes, but accumulated 162.5 points behind second-place Wayzata (166) and first-place Waconia (242).
Barrett won his first two matches with pins at 195 pounds and scored a 24-8 technical fall in the title match. Patnode tallied wins by technical fall, major decision and a pin on his way to the 138-pound title.
Denny Busbey and Braden Kramer both placed second for the Warriors, while Isaiah Jillson, Gabe Wagner, Brad Patnode, Forrest Gibson and Morgan Gibson all finished third.
