SAUK RAPIDS — The No. 3 seeded Brainerd Warriors won their fifth straight dual with a 47-24 win over No. 6 Little Falls, but fell to No. 2 Bemidji in the semifinals 39-26 at the Section 8-3A tournament Friday, Feb 14.
The Warriors fell behind 9-0 against the Flyers as Austin Litke and Joey Wilzek each picked up wins, but Brainerd’s Isaiah Jilson, Cole Ostrowski, Kyle Eschenbacher, Atlie Danielson and Gabe Wagner put the next five matches in the win column and gave Brainerd a 26-9 lead.
Against Bemidji, the Warriors’ Isaiah Germann, Jillson and Ostrowski built a 14-6 Brainerd lead. After Bemidji’s Joe Hudson recorded a win, Danielson and Wagner put momentum back on the Warriors’ side at 20-9. But the Lumberjacks responded with wins in the next five matches to take a 33-20 lead. Cade Barrett got the last win for the Warriors.
Brainerd finishes the season 16-10 and will compete in the Section 8-2A individual tournament Saturday, Feb. 22.
