A floating bog, measuring about 50 yards wide, nearly stretches across a channel on Gilbert Lake near Brainerd Wednesday, April 24. The channel connects the main lake with a small shallow bay known as a hotbed for pan fish angling early in the season. Zebra mussels found in Gilbert, North Long lakes

Minnesota currently has more than 175 water bodies designated as infested with zebra mussels. Designation does not mean each body of water is confirmed to be infested, but that zebra mussels have been detected in a lake accessible by boat, and spread is likely between connected waters.
