New Zealand-born conductor Gemma New will appear in the 2019 Lakes Area Music Festival concert series this summer. Her appearance will be Aug. 10-11 at Tornstrom Auditorium. New is the music director of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, a resident conductor of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and music director of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. The wind kicked up as members of the Minnesota Orchestra performed the first of a week's worth of concerts in Bemidji Tuesday morning.
