The late-season hunt will open Friday, Dec. 16, and continue through Sunday, Dec. 18. DPAs open to this CWD management hunt are 184, 605, 643, 645, 646, 647, 648, 649 and 655.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources received preliminary test results indicating the first suspected case of chronic wasting disease in a wild white-tailed deer in the Bemidji area. The adult male was harvested opening weekend of the firearms season about 10 miles south of Bemidji in deer permit area 184.
Land services staff sought direction from the board on whether to continue incineration operations, given just one CWD-positive deer was confirmed during the two hunting seasons since January 2019.
