A storm system moving Tuesday, Feb. 23, across northern Minnesota could bring as much as 5 inches of snow to the Brainerd lakes area, the National Weather Service in Duluth reported.

A winter weather advisory is in effect noon Tuesday through 3 a.m. Wednesday, with 3-5 inches of snow possible, though 1-3 inches is most likely for the Brainerd area, the weather service reported. The advisory covers Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing and Todd counties.

No advisories were issued for Mille Lacs, Morrison and Todd counties, though a mix of snow and rain is expected in those counties Tuesday afternoon.
